A HAND BEFORE THE NEXT DIVE

A little help
down here.

Short dives. Quick retries. A few things worth knowing before you head back into the water.

How do I steer?

Tap or hold the upper half of the water to rise, or the lower half to dive. Slide between the halves to change direction. Release to drift with the current. Each new dive waits for your first swim input.

Choose How to play from the welcome screen, or Settings → How to play, to revisit the interactive guide.

Why am I drifting the other way?

Currents change gradually through the cave. The Current indicator shows the actual pull; the upcoming-direction warning tells you what is about to change. Releasing the controls lets you drift—it does not hold the diver still.

How do I get more air?

Collect the bright air rings marked with a plus. Look for them in the lower passage. Keep clear of rocks and jellyfish as you approach. Finishing a descent also refills your air.

Same route, fresh route, or next descent?

Dive again replays the same route at your selected difficulty. A fresh route changes its seed. Completing a descent lets you continue deeper on the current run, with gradually longer descents. Continuing keeps the difficulty of that run.

What changes with difficulty?

Easy, Medium and Hard change cave space, hazards and air pressure. Best distances are stored separately for each difficulty. A difficulty change during a dive applies to your next new run, not the current descent.

Sounds, Silent Mode and haptics

Open Settings → Comfort. Sound effects is the master switch; Individual sounds lets you adjust nine cues, including swimming up and down, current warnings and celebrations. Sounds respect Silent Mode and mix with other audio. Haptic feedback has its own switch.

Can I skip the arrival animation?

Tap to skip Overboard, then use a fresh touch to begin swimming. In Settings → Comfort, turn Overboard animation off, or enable Play on every new dive. The default is a daily arrival. Reduce Motion uses a brief dissolve.

Where are my saves? What does reset remove?

Your best distances, recent runs, diver choice, preferences and logbook live on your device. Dinky Diver has no account or app-operated cloud sync.

Settings → Dive logbook → Reset Logbook removes local badges and totals after confirmation. It preserves best distances, recent runs and diver choices. It is not a full reset. Deleting the app removes its local app-container data; offloading keeps that data. Apple device backups are managed separately.

How do I share or import a route?

After a dive ends or between descents, choose Share this dive for an illustrated scorecard or route code. To import, return to a state where you can set up a route, open Settings → Routes → Enter route code, paste or type the code, review it, then choose Start.

Replay begins at descent one. An active run requires replacement confirmation. A code contains a seed, difficulty and game-rule version—not a player’s score or identity. Sharing through another app follows that service’s practices.

Why won’t my code work?

Copy the complete code with its hyphens. A mistyped checksum differs from an older set of game rules: older routes need compatible app versions, even if the text was copied correctly. Ask your friend to check their version. Website links retain the code so you can return and copy it after installing; they do not promise automatic import.
